History

Melrose in Bloom was started in 2000 by a small group of around half a dozen volunteers, adopting as their logo “enhancing our beautiful town”. From those modest beginnings we now have around 50 volunteers who give their time, whenever they can, to help keep Melrose beautiful.

Activities

Our work parties take place every 2nd and 4th Tuesday, meeting at 9.30am at the St Dunstan’s car park (next to the doctors surgery). These are very sociable occasions where we work, chat and tidy up the town. No gardening knowledge or experience is needed so if you would like to join us either regularly, or as an occasional volunteer, just bring your enthusiasm – and some money for a well-earned coffee afterwards.

Events

We hold an annual Garden Party in the summer which is very popular with residents and visitors. 

Rosie

Rosie’s team head out regularly in either the morning or evening to make sure all the baskets and planters are kept hydrated. They also check for dead heads to remove and fallen flowers to clean up. The usual team is one driver and one waterer and does not take long, although often the passing visitors will chat for a while.
